Over the last decade, bilateral relations have witnessed positive historic changes. In the new 21st century the sociopolitical and economic bases of Russian-Chinese relations have become ever firmer, mutual political trust has deepened, the traditional friendship between the two countries' peoples has grown stronger and mutually beneficial cooperation has produced substantial results.

Since the relation normalization in 1991, the friendship and relations of mutual benefit between Vietnam and China have been developing both in width and depth in all fields bringing about practical benefits to both sides.
