The Salar The Salar

There are about 100,000 Salar people in China. Most of them live in Qinghai and Gansu provinces. The Salar people call themselves Salarer. Their ancestors are the Samarkand people who migrated from Central Asia to China during the Yuan Dynasty (1271AD-1368AD).

The Tu

The Tu, Mongols, Mongolian, Altaic, Tukun, Tuhujia.

Mogao Cave

Carved out of the side of a mountain, then painted and decorated over the course of a millennia, the Mogao Caves are not to be missed.

The Kazaks

The modern ethnic group is a synthesis of many different tribes, including the ancient tribes of Wuaun, Xiongnu (the Huns) etc.

The Tibetans

According to Chinese historical records, the Tibetans are indigenous to Tibet and the surrounding areas of Central Asia.

The Mongolians

The Mongol tribes first roamed the Wangjian River during the Tang Dynasty (618AD - 907AD).
