The Mulam

The 200,000 Mulam people live mostly in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The Mulam people call themselves Ling or Jing. According to historical records, they have lived in the Luocheng area of Guangxi province since the Jin dynasty.

The Mulam language belongs to the Tai-Kadai language family. It’s written with Chinese characters. Most Mulam also speak one or several other languages, such as Mandarin, Zhuang, or Dong.

The Mulam practice Taoism and Buddhism.

Agriculture is the mainstay of the Mulam. They grow rice, corns, potatoes, and vegetables.
