Why did you go/come to China?Since I first uttered my first thoughts about moving to China this has been the question everybody keeps asking. It didn’t stop when I finally arrived in the country. Both Chinese and western people seem to find this question really interesting. They seem to be very surprised and have difficulties understanding why one would choose to live in China. Because how can one want to live in the fastest growing economic of this time? How can one have the desire to be a part of this development? How can one want to be given the opportunity to experience something new and extremely different from what one is used to? Yes, I can see why this is so difficult to understand. But what I can’t understand is why also the Chinese find it so strange that one wants to live in their country. I’ve never heard an American or Frenchmen questioning the decision to move to one of their countries. The Chinese are a very proud people and they are always bragging about their long history and traditions. So why is it so difficult to understand that other people want to experience and be a part of it? If anyone has an answer you’re welcome to explain because this I still haven’t understood.
So why did I come to China? I was looking for a challenge and I’ve found it.
